The net-tools package contains a collection of programs that form the base set of the NET-3 networking distribution for the Linux operating system. It contains the important tools for controlling the network subsystem of the Linux kernel including arp, hostname, ifconfig, netstat, rarp and route.
Changes: Updated the French translation, contributed support for IrDA and some bugs have been fixed.
ppp 2.3.7 -- 1 avril 1999
PPP Daemon for Linux, Solaris 2, *BSD, SunOS 4, Digital Unix, SVR4, NeXTStep, and Ultrix. This allows Unix machines to connect to the internet through dialup lines, using the PPP protocol, as a PPP server or client. Works with 'chat', 'dip', and 'diald', among (many) others. Supports IP, TCP, UDP and (for Linux) IPX (Novell).
Changes: Several improvements and bug fixes over 2.3.6. Notably new `pty' and `notty' options, useful for tunneling over ssh., new `record' option to record characters sent/received, now logs connect time and number of bytes sent/received when connection terminates, prints messages to stdout if stdout is available and problems with signals and permissions in 2.3.6 fixed.
